Die Wipfelschäftigkeit kommt von einer<br /> hohen apikalen Dominanz der Meristeme, welche eine starke Hierarchie zwischen Endknospe<br /> und Seitenknospe, bzw. End- und Seitentriebe bestimmt. Das führt zur sylleptischen<br /> Schaftarchitektur, d.h. eine klare hormonell gesteuerte Wuchshierarchie zwischen Gipfel- und<br /> Seitentrieben.<br /> <br /> Andererseits gibt es viele Baumarten, die immer sympodisch verzweigen. In der Regel sind das<br /> tropische Baumarten. Dieser Typ entsteht, nachdem die Fruktifikationstriebe im Jahr nach der<br /> Fruktifikation absterben und führen dazu, dass unterliegende Knospen Ersatztriebe bilden. Je<br /> nach apikaler Dominanz entwickeln sich pro Achse zwei Ersatztriebe gleich stark und führen<br /> dann zu einer Kandelaberform (echter Sympod). Unechte Sympoden entstehen, wenn<br /> Gipfeltriebe nur ausnahms- und zufallsweise ausfallen, z.B. unter Frostbeschädigung oder<br /> Wildverbiss.
